Wii bit paranoid
Did I jump the gun??? Or am I plain paranoid???

On my 21st birthday I got my first video game system since the Playstation 2... the everso popular Nintendo Wii. It was also my very first  Nintendo system ever. Prior to that day, I had been researching online and with friends over what next generation system I should pick up. I was very skeptical and critical, and equipped with a tight budget, feared the monstrosity of expenses that could pile up from extra controllers to games and other featurettes.

The Nintendo at the time was the fastest selling and the leader of the market. The Xbox 360 was comfortably in second place while the Playstation 3 lagged behind (although it was at this time announced that Blu-ray would be the official next generation media format for HD and PS3 sales had sharply spiked... as well my interest). I was also interested in the fact that PS3 and the 360 generated HD quality screens whereas the Wii was touted as a beefed up Gamecube.

Graphics are very important in the enjoyment of the game, but I value gameplay and "fun" level much higher than graphics. One day my friend happened to borrow a Wii and the Wii Fit and Balance Board set from another friend. I finally got my first indepth look at the system, and my test drive lasted nearly the entire evening for several hours. It was amazingly fun. No matter how simple Wii Sports is, its simplicity invaluably adds charm and replay value. I was sold. The Wii was for me.

I got the whole shabang. Extra controllers, Wii Balance Board, top rated games (Resident Evil 4, Mario Kart Wii, Smash Bros Brawl, Madden 08, Medal of Honor, Wii Resort), etc.

***By the way, if you didn't know, the Wii may be the first and the best party-and-drunk-friendly system ever. Instead of button mashing all you have to do is flail your arm around just like before passing out and trying to balance yourself- do that and your gold: that motion there is a perfect strike in Wii Bowling >_<***

A year and a half later I feel dissatisfied. The system is much more enjoyable in groups, and when I'm alone I hardly feel like playing the Wii. The system as a result barely gets used unless I have people over. While on most systems as they age the games get progressively better, the Wii seems to have hit the wall in any progression at all. It's even reflected in the sales where recently the sales have stagnated and even dropped in certain regions, whereas the Playstation 3 nearly quadrupled the 360 in sales over the past Thanksgiving Day sales.

The PS3 games seem to be progressively getting better, and with multiple HD televisions in my home I began to feel I may have made the wrong decision. I feel like I was a victim of the hype; a victim of a bandwagon.

Nahhh... I love my Wii. It's the most fun I've had with games in a while. Nintendo makes it fun. My rating? Well I don't have extensive experience with the Xbox 360 or the PS3 to compare the Wii with, but I fully support and encourage those who can and are looking for a good system to take a chance on the Wii.

I'll use this article also as a method of introducing the next phase in article content management. While I will shell out the random news reports on the website, news reports on relevant games, and funny blog-style reports such as this one or the "Christmas Bug" or "Gaming Re-focus", I'll be adding reviews also with a rating system equipped. Of course, to make an extensive review site we need experienced and diversified writers to write for us. For example, I'm equipped as of now to write dozens of articles regarding the Wii. We also need writers for the other systems as well as PC and PC hardware.

Give us a shout if you feel you're upto it!

That would be sweet. And you don't have to dedicate yourself to just one category. I may start writing about the Wii, but occasionally I think I can chip in across the board and write reviews on, for example, PC hardware additionally.

I think we should at least have one MW2 review and L4D and L4D2 review. The only game I have at least good to extensive knowledge on is L4D, but even then I'm still a noob. If anyone who plays these games consistently can write up a review that addresses:

Presentation
Gameplay
Graphics
Sound
Performance Requirements
Online/Multiplayer component
Replay value/fun level

That would make an excellent review right there. Of course, the said topics above are only guideline and feel free to write about any additional information you would want to include.
